According to the article in the latest AARN; Eric Mauriello and Shauna Ingraham won't be driving for legendary owner Dick Barney for 2017 and, their racing future I uncertain.
Mauriello 23, had great success during his four and a half year tenure in the famous Big Red #14. He's caputured the 2014 Turkey Derby championship in the Tour Type Modified event by fending off Les Hinckley, Jr. of Windsor Locks, Ct. and multi time winner Jimmy Blewett. In 2015, he was point leader much of the season until he was slapped with a disqualification when his mount failed inspection and, that costed him his first crown for the Barney Team. Rumors circulated that Brannick asked him if he would race his car for 2017 but, Brannick hasn't elaborated about the negotiation. In his final ride for Barney, he finished second in the Tour Type Modified and sixth in the SK/Wall Modified.
Ingraham 22, started racing for Barney in 2011 at the tender age of 16. On October 22, 2011 she became the first female to win an open wheel event. She moved to Modifieds in 2012, during that season tragedy struck when her grandfather Don Ling, Sr. succumbed to throat cancer at 70. She bravely continued her career until, she got a Modified win in September of 2013 when she held off Jimmy Blewett. Since her start, she had a fanbase going and it was huge. Age, gender or, race didn't matter to watch the natural talent. She had been voted most popular driver for five consecutive seasons. After finishing a respectable eighth last Saturday, she faced an uncertainty about next season.
The cars have cleared the way for grandson Blake Barney and, he'll be racing a Modified in 2017. Barney 16, finished fourth in his Rookie season in the Sportsman division with a single victory. Not only racing Wall, he won at Evergreen and, Mahoning Valley.
Good Luck Eric and Shauna on your futures year in and year out.
