According to the latest article on Speed51.com; Jimmy Blewett, has a teammate for 2017. Eric Mauriello, was tabbed to race the Ormsbee #09 on a part time basis. Mauriello, was dropped from the Dick Barney #14 after last years Turkey Derby. Blewett on the other hand, will have the #19 and the cars will have the Starrett colors on both cars.
Mauriello, won the Derby in 2014 in the Dick Barney machine in the Tour Type Modifieds which was still the biggest victory of his career. Prior to that victory, Mauriello won the Sportsman crown in 2012 before moving to the Modifieds regularly. In 2015, his hopes were high and was leading the points until it crumbled later when, he was hit by a disqualification so, it costed him a great deal of points. Now, with all the bad times behind him, Mauriello, will be picking up a race or three on his part time schedule and, he'll be racing the Derby.
Blewett, will be racing full time in the Ormsbee #19 and has his sights on the 2017 Modified Championship and will be going against his fiercest rival Steven Reed (won it twice). For years, the Blewett/Reed relationship was stormy at best from drivers and fans alike and, the song would remain the same. With his full time schedule in place, Blewett will be racing four to six NASCAR Whelen Tour events and the car will be backed with Starrett tools. Since 2009, he'll be racing New Smyrna Speedway in the Catalano back up car. Finally, after a year away from dirt, Blewett will be racing the Poker Series at Bridgeport Speedway in the Jimmy Horton #43.
