With the regular season concluded, Wall Stadium Speedway will be showcasing their yearly Thanksgiving tradtional event "Turkey Derby". The event was held since 1974 and it was won by Gil Hearne who bested Long Islanders the late Tom Baldwin and Fred Harbach. The next two years, the event was won by "Gentleman" Jim Hendrickson. George Kent became the first outsider winning the fall classic, in the Cal Smales #41. John Blewett, Jr. won the event in 1980 and 1984 which showed he defended his turf. Tom Mauser had got a pair of derbies but, he had won the Sportsman in 1979. Jamie "The Jet" Tomaino won the Sportsman in 1975 and six years later, he won the Modified by passing defending winner John Blewett Jr. within less than five laps remained despite, erasing a two lap deficit.
For the first time in two years; the Turkey Derby returned to its three day format since the COVID-19 Pandemic impacted the 2020 season that lead most of the fans remained at their homes due to fear and restrictions. Last season, the fans had been vaccinated to ward off the deadly disease but, some people had caught it but, not as bad.
As always, the schedule will be bloated with exciting racing for family and fans. It includes SK/Wall Mods will be taking 100 tours, Tour Type Mods will be racing in 150 laps and, Dirt Modifieds will take 50 tours which are the most exciting to everyone. Balance of Divisions; Sportsman, Legends, Fast Fours, TQ, Factory Stock and, Outlaw Stocks.
