BLEWETT BESTS MODIFIEDS AT WALL STADIUM SPEEDWAY SATURDAY NIGHT

WALL, NJ ~ After a brief evening shower at 7:00 p.m. forced a delay in the start of the first of six feature races, multi-time driving champion Jimmy Blewett raced to victory in the 40-lap Modified stock car main event at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. It was the Howell racer's 86th win at the track and the 160th of his career.

The race got off to a rough start as start as Jackson's Steven Reed tagged the fourth turn guard rail on the first lap. Once that wreck was cleared the race went non-stop as Derek Hopkinson of Milltown was the early leader. Blewett soon advanced to second and chased the leader until lap 15 when he closed in looking for a path into the lead. Blewett found that path just before halfway as he dove to the inside lane in turns one and two to take the lead.

Blewett then led the final half of the race although Hopkinson was never far behind. Tommy Martino, Jr. of Red Bank was third at the stripe with Holmdel's Andrew Krause and Jackson's Blake Barney rounding out the top five.

“When you've been doing this for 23 years you never know when or if another win is coming so they are all special,” Blewett said after the race. “I am running for the championship this year. This place is very special to my family so I would like to get another title here.”

Kevin Flores of Brick jumped to the lead early and paced the field the entire way to win the 25-lapper for the Factory Stocks. Ryan Bilello of Neptune and Howell's Johnny Carpenter crossed the line second and third, but both failed post race inspections. That moved Manchester's Scott Riggleman to second with Rob Anderton and Bob Anderton, both of Howell, and Brick's Nick Catone rounding out the top five.

Howell's Kevin Davison, the defending driving champ, took the win in the Sportsman 25-lapper over youngster Tyler Ferris of Freehold. Brick's Robert Sutphin, Tyler Truex of Little Egg Harbor and Hazlet's Chris Silvestri completed the top five.

Nate Divone of Howell grabbed his first ever Wall Stadium Legend Cars win in the 25-lapper over a hard charging Ryan Kuhlthau, also of Howell.. Justin Emmons of Spring Lake Heights, Justin Teresak and Dan Iaros rounded out the top five.

Defending champ Sean Vuksanic of Wall was tops in the 25-lap Fast 4 main event over fellow Wall resident Alex Graetz. Kayleigh Sharry, Ted Olswfski and Josh Barry were third through fifth.

Howie Conk of Freehold won a Limited Late Model main event that was shortened by a fourth turn crash involving Geoff Handel. No injuries were reported
