That saying sure does hold true in racing...  At least it did at one time.

Today, the color of a racecar might have more to do with who the sponsor is, over tradition, over personal preference, and even over "superstition."  But many of us can remember a time when most drivers wouldn't think of running a green racecar.

When you saw a green car on the race track go by the first time out for warm ups, the first thought was always, "ut-oh.... that's bad luck..."

As a kid, I remember seeing pictures of Jimmy Clark's 1965 Indy 500 winning car, and it was green, and I thought that was kind of strange.  (It wasn't until a few years later that I learned that Clark's car was green because it was a Lotus, and... well...  superstition or not, Lotus' were supposed to be green.  Other than that example, green was definitely a rarity around the racetrack....  Indycars, Grand National Stock Cars, and even modifieds and sprint cars on the local level.

So this weekend's trivia challenge is, name a car/driver that you remember as often running a green car.  Remind us of the driver, the car#, and maybe the track/era if you think it'll help us remember.

If you want to take this a step further, let's throw in any other drivers/raceteams that bucked the system by doing something else that was considered unlucky (running the #13, eating peanuts in the pits... other?)

Let's see what you guys come up with.  If you have an original photo to go along with the driver your mentioning, go ahead and post that too.

Thanks, and have fun this weekend.
