Thanks for bringing back some memories 36yrwallmodfan.
You gotta be careful around here though.. You mention Black and Tans and 1/2 the board will think we're talking about beer .
I haven't had a coonhound since I moved out of South Brunswick in the early 80's. Back then though, we had Black and Tans, Redbones and Blueticks. I was probably partial to Blueticks because it seemed our best dogs were Blueticks.
In addition to coonhounds, we had a full out Beagle kennel that we ran on our property on Fresh Ponds Road. Probably sold between 100 - 150 beagles each year from the mid 70's to the late 80's. That's a lot of dogs... and for me, that was a lot of dog poop to rake up each day...(I guess I can add that to my resume!)
All were from good hunting stock - gun broke, and very few had AKC papers. They just knew what to do once you got to the woods!
My dad used to say, "What good is it if a dog has papers, unless he can read them."
Thanks again for the memories 36yrwallmodfan. I might have to break out my "Where the Red Fern Grows" DVD tonight and give it another look....
