Back in May, friend of The Vault Mark Braun posted a picture here of a car that he had just recently purchased, and although it had seen quite a few changes over the years, Mark had done his homework, and it is actually one of the original #14J Weld car driven by Alan Johnson.
Hearing about the car, the good folks who were working behind the scenes on this year's Dirt Hall of Fame awards, at which Alan Johnson would be inducted this year, got in touch with Mark and asked if it might be possible for him to bring the car up - as is, to the awards ceremony, to facilitate a reunion between Alan and the Weld car.
Although living clear across the other side of New York, Mark committed to getting the car to the Hall of Fame event on schedule, and from what I hear, having the car there for Alan's induction into the Hall of Fame, made the event even that much more special.
Here is a cool piece that was made up special for the event showing the "The Circus Wagon," and the car as it appears now, as purchased earlier this year as a #57, along with some background information on the "journey" the car has made from 1978 to 2017:
Not sure if Mark will see this, but if you do Mark, THANKS for getting the car up to this very special event, and we hope you'll keep us updated on the restoration process of the #14J!
