Happy Birthday to Frankie!
Here's my favorite picture(s) of Frankie, probably because of the moment that it captured:
The pictures are from somewhere around 2004 during a gathering at the then closed Flemington Speedway, that had been opened up just for the day for the guys from the National Old Timers Auto Racing Club (NOTARC) to take some laps around the track.
Well... there was Frankie all suited up, with a white full face helmet, getting pushed off to run some laps in the Mateka #3N1 Champ Car. I watched him roll out, and watched him turn a few what I thought were very quick laps. Then I hung around where the car was pitted to see Frankie bring the #3N1 back to rest.
I guess I shouldn't have been surprised but Frankie got out of the car and started giving info on what was wrong with the car... what needed to be changed... what needed to be adjusted... and how he had to lift because this was not right, and the other things needing adjusting... He wanted to get back out there and see what it'd do with a few more adjustments!
Here I thought Frankie was just going out for a "Sunday Drive" and instead, at that moment, in 2004, he showed every bit of that fire that made him the champion that he is, and will always be.
Happy Birthday Frankie Schneider!
