Your right Anthony.... It's a show... as is the circus.
And I hate to see/actually realize how it is being manipulated now, because I feel a little foolish.... I'm one of those dopes who back when people used to say this is fixed, and that is fixed, I would shake my head and say, no way.... Not NASCAR... they would never do that. They have integrity.
Like I asked in my post above, (and keep in mind that I consider myself a Dale Jr fan and would have liked to see him "advance"), is there a person on the planet that thinks that if Dale Jr had been leading and about to make the "playoffs" ... or as I also added, if Danica was in the lead and only a lap away from winning her first Nascar race... that thinks race control would they have thrown the caution when Derrick Cope grazed the wall with one or two to go?
They can't have it both ways and still expect people to think they have integrity.
I wonder how many years away do you think we are from them adding a final segment to all races with 10 to go... or 5 to go... just so they don't ever have to create phony cautions at the end of a race?
Oh well, some of us are talking about it, so I guess they're accomplishing their goal of making it "interesting." But when making it interesting becomes more important than doing the right thing, they continue to push more and more of the folks that hey need the most, away from the sport. Some on this board were loyal paying customers in the grandstands... Many of us have now become just TV fans and the stands are 1/2 empty at most tracks.... Phantom cautions being called at the end of the race based on how exciting it will make things, instead of whether a caution is really called for, will help drive those TV fans onto the next destination, which will be to find something else to do, and to not even watch the races, but be content to just see the highlights on the recap shows on Sunday night/Monday.
