The higher sideboard on the left is to catch more air as the car goes into the turn. Early eighties the thinking was, a shorter right sideboard allowed more air to reach left, some even trimmed the top of the right all the way down to the foil. This thinking eventually went away , I believe that keeping more air concentrated on the foil worked better.
