There were a lot of really great looking cars at Turkey Derby this year. Really liked Jimmy Blewett's Tour Type Modified #76, with the Blewett Family colors of red, white and blue. Also liked Matt Hirschman's Tour Type red and black #60.
Thanks to photographer Jim Smith, here are the ones that really caught my eye, and that I had never seen before:
Jeff Richardson - Dirt Modified - Great colors. Great balance. Like the way the # is written in gold. Something about the car reminded me of one of Davey Allison's #28 Havoline Thunderbird Cup Car. Thank you Vault Visitor oldmank for the driver info.
Roger Labreche Jr - Dirt Modified. This one looks a little too busy in the photo above, but fans noticed how the color blue looked in the afternoon sun, along with the white stars and the big chrome #100. It was a real eye catcher for sure. Thank you to Vault Visitor le sieurs for the driver information.
Blake Barney - Tour Type Modified - This one was the opposite of busy, and it looked cool out there in contrast to all of the newer style paint schemes. The bright white numbers and white lettering really jumped off the rootbeer brown color. The fact that there are only two colors (brown and white) really made it unique too. The car also had either white wheels or possibly bright light gray, which fit in with the old school look to. The fact that it had a name, ("The 6") gave it even more points in my book! I learned from Vault Visitor Rob V. that this is a paint scheme that represented a car owned by Gary Gardella (The A to Z Special), and was driven by Howie Brown at Weissglass in the 60's.
All of the above photos provided to The Vaut by photographer Jim Smith. Thank you Jim!
