Took the ride up to Allentown PPL Center last night with D Wolfe and John Mc. Enjoyed some great Pennsylvania hospitality thanks to Ed and a great group of folks!
Here's the view of the action:
Some of the folks we were able to say hello to while enjoying the show included Rick Shive, John Wagner, PA Joe, Lenny Swider, Marty Resnick, Jay Aten, Mini Cooper Rich, 2018 NES Rookie Champ David Burns, Dale Snyder, Jack Kromer, Kevin Eyres and others.
Speaking of Kevin, he was busy all night as Race Director, and kept the show moving quickly from the infield platform.
That's Kevin on the left with the headset, talking with Marco Andretti, who was on hand, taking some practice laps in Kyle Lick's TQ. Marco then spent some time watching the qualifying heats from the infield stage.
Good show, with a few on track surprises. Ryan Flores looked like he was the man to beat in the TQ feature, until the engine let go in flames with 6 to go.
The TQ feature was won by Scott Kreutter, with Danny Buccafusca winning the Slingshot event. Scary moment in the TQ heats when driver Timex Morgan flipped on the frontstrech. He was quickly attended to by rescue personnel who took their time getting the driver out of the car. He gave the thumbs up to the crowd as he was taken away on a stretcher, and then taken to the hospital. I had noticed just minutes earlier, prior to the start of the events, Timex saluting the flag during the singing of the National Anthem. We hope for the best for the TQ racer.
