Well it is late here but I wanted to post our results for this evening. We started the day off by getting the car ready for the events of the evening. Mounted and sized some tires, changed the gear a little and tweeked the chassis some. Warm ups went well. We drew #71 which placed us 6th in the 6th heat race. Austin ran well and finished 2nd and they count passing points here. The car was great in the heat. That placed us 3rd in the first qualifer. They ran 2 C mains before us. We started 3rd in our qualifer and finished 4th. Austin lead it for 3 laps but lost his position because the top of the race track came in and he started to move around and found the top of the track just a little to late. We finished 4th and we thought that would lock us in to the A main . But with passing points we just missed the cut for the A by 1 passing point. This put us in the B main starting 2nd.
They ran a "Past Champions Race" before our B main. Our team mate and car owner Chad Boat won that race and when he came in from victory lane and gave Austin some tips about the race track conditions. We made some quick adjustments to the car and even put Chads rear tires on the back of our car. With starting 2nd we felt we would be ok to make the top 4 and make the A main tonight. When the B main started Austin ran 2nd on the bottom of the track battling for the lead. Well low and be hold the top was fast again and the bottom was good as well. Austin dropped to 4th on the bottom and then got to the top a little to late again. We finished 7th. Missing his first ever A main at the Chili Bowl by 3 spots.
The bottom line is Austin learned alot tonight. He is racing against full time race car drivers that are some of the best in the world. Having never driven a midget before this week his results are nothing to hang your head down. We are told our results tonight might get us in Saturdays C main. They are starting with Q mains. We will just have to see how the week shakes out. We are "off" track now until Saturday. So he has some time to reflect and think about what he has learned. We are still having fun and many more race fans here have taken notice to him. Many veteran drivers stopped by to give him tips and compliment him on how he is doing. So we will keep working until the end and see how things shake out.
We are very thankful for everyones support here and the opportunity that we have to come here and race with the best drivers in the world and put Austin on a National stage to showcase his talents. Again. We want to Thank You all for your Support. By the way tonights A main was won by Kyle Larson.
