Mike, glad you got to the hospital and are doing well!
On June 2 2017, I went to work as usual, planning to work a half day and then attend the wedding of fellow 3Wider John Wagner's son. Never made it. Went from work to hospital after having crushing chest pain, sweating, shortness of breath and arm numbness (remember these symptoms from brother Randy's heart attack 4 years earlier) Had 2 major blockages, and one minor, had 2 stents installed and was fine. Doctor made it very plain: If I hadn't got to hospital when I did, I would not be here today. I didn't actually have a heart attack, so no damage to my heart.
And then:July 31, same thing. I'm thinking now what? Turns out the minor blockage from June was giving me trouble, I was informed that treating small vessels with stents is in it's infancy, it wasn't treated earlier for that reason, this time it was stented, but I did have a very mild attack this time. My doctor told me this was as minor a heart attack as possible, again got away with very little damage. Bottom line, like Mike said, don't shrug it off, you should know by now what feels right and what doesn't. I remember musician John Mellencamp saying after his heart attack, you cant live on cheeseburgers, KFC and cigarettes forever. I'm thankful that I quit smoking 27 years ago, would've been gone long ago if not. I'll be around to see my daughters weddings, my grandchildren (although my youngest daughter thinks I shouldn't race anymore!)
