By the time the caution came out, every car that was able to miss the wreck had already gotten by it.. Had they been able to race back to the checkered, like they did for years in NASCAR, they could have avoided all the subsequent carnage that comes with green-checkered restarts not to mention all the confusion and BS that leave the fans wondering what kind of nonsense they just witnessed .
A little side bar --My 2 brothers, who live in Florida, are down to attending the ARCA race and the Clash. Together , we used to go to Daytona for every race during speedweeks. He renewed his ticket last spring as he did for years and only recently found out that the sched had been changed and that the ARCA race would be run on Sat and the clash was moved to Sun . When he called the track ,he was told that some advanced ticket holders were called and advised of the change but the person said "I see here that you were not called". They also told him they do not offer comp tickets for any reason and offered him his money back, which he accepted.
Another long time fan and ticket buyer (early 80s) mistreated and lost.
Pretty sure they could have found a couple of empty seats for them and maybe that would have brought attendance up to 104. They probably would then have been able to sell a few more overpriced hot dogs,as well
