Ive been hearing for literally 30 years now how this or that guy got the "good" plate.   There is no need to make sure the Favorite son (or daughter) of the year has a plate thats just a wee bit larger when THEY are doing the timing and scoring.  Can anyone REALLY say a car that went 2.5 miles a  barely measurable fraction of a second faster or slower?  Im not saying they can, would or have done such a thing but it would probably be a piece of cake to decide car number X was going to win the pole and just set up the software to make sure that does happen.  Who would know?  How could anyone know?
