I was shooting pictures in turn one at New Smyrna in the late 70's and an older guy standing near me said hi and started shooting the bull with me about racing and racing photography, in between the race events. We probably talked for five minutes or so and he mentioned that he was a racer, after I asked some questions. I was surprised that he was a driver and I asked who he was? He said Hooker Hood. I told him well that is pretty cool and I told him that I certainly heard of him before. I never saw him race though, because I didn't get to many sprint car shows back then and going to the Florida races was about the only traveling that I did to shoot races. He was a neat dude and we went back to talking after the other heats races and/or delays that night. For a shy dorky kid, that was a cool time at the races that night. A few mentioned Linda Vaughn here..I also saw and took a picture of Linda Vaughn at the Oval Track Trade Show in Daytona in 1979.
