Attended as a fan in the spectator stands.
Went out of respect for Cliff and what he and his family have done for Wall Stadium
Likes: One of the best run shows I've ever seen from a time management standpoint. Fast clean ups, minimal amount of pace laps/laps before going back to green. Got there a little before 7pm as heat races were just finishing up. Track took a quick 15 minute intermission, and had the first feature on the track around 7:20. Last feature of the night was over at 9:57. No breaks.. just 2 1/2 hours of feature racing. Place looks great. Good crowd. Good mix of people.
Dislikes: Features for the most part were a foregone conclusion because of track managements decision to start the features with the fastest car on the pole, 2nd fastest 2nd, 3rd fastest 3rd... (you get the idea... zzzzzzzzzzzzz). Six Features, and no green flag passes for the lead. Pole sitters won each feature with the exception of the Sportsman (pole sitter was leading for much of the race, but pulled off with a mechanical issue) and possibly the Outlaw Stock feature winner might have grabbed the lead on the initial start from his 2nd starting spot.
Dislikes: Running 20 lap features for divisions with 4 cars (Limited Late Models) and 7 cars (Legends). I suggested last year that a feature event should be a 10 lap minimum, but should never be more than twice the # of cars in the field.
Dislikes: Cars getting DQ'd after they win, after the driver gets his victory lane glory... This is a carry over problem from last year which I see has not been addressed. DQ'd drivers lose $'s/points (I guess), but get to comeback the next week like if nothing ever happened. Where's the disincentive in that? No wonder guys don't put a whole lot of concern with whether they are legal or not.
Going back this month? Will be back when I am sure that the track is handicapping faster guys to the back. Also, will check the order of events for upcoming races, and will not attend if the Legends or Limited Late Models are scheduled to have their features before the Factory Stocks. Divisions that have low car counts need to be run last. (I've have sat through my last 4 car 20 lap feature....)
Also, not in a hurry to go back until an explanation is provided by track management/track PR on what they are doing this year (penalties) to deter drivers in all classes from running/winning, and then having the paying fans learn the day after that they were illegal. It happened quite a bit in 2017, and I don't think I will be putting up with it this year.
