Attended as a fan in the stands...usually go to 2-3 shows at Grandview a year. Used to be a weekly patron, but have since moved on to Bridgeport. Will never miss the Sixer and usually hit up a regular show and probably a USAC Sprint car show / year
Likes: Very little down time ! They definately kept the show rolling ! Started right on time at 7PM and I was home in bed all snuggy with the Warden by 10:30 PM, and that included a 30-35 minute ride home.
Racing was great throughout the field, with anyone in the top ten capable of moving up a few spots with a caution.
Great quantity and quality of cars
Great crowd on hand !
Ran into Ernie Saxton as he was leaving and let him know how nice it was to see him. I don't always agree with his point of view, but he truly has done alot for local auto racing. He hasn't aged at all, short of a walking stick that he was using.
Pretty much no dust all night
Didn't see one fall down drunk, which has sorta been the norm at Grandview the past few years !
Dislikes: Grandview has not invested one penny into the creature comforts for the fans in decades, short of a set of concrete steps heading up to the ticket window. It's a shame as the place could be an example as to what the best of short track racing could be. Look no further than Bridgeport or Port Royal.
Not sure if I will be returning within the month, but I will be back this year !
