Excellent point Kevin!!! My oldest daughter belonged to the Stan Ploski Fan Club and used to go with me to all the races, but the delays and long nights wore her down. I have four kids and NONE will go with me to the races at this point.
A year or two ago my friends and I wanted to take a fellow co-worker to a race. A rookie. He certainly heard us talk about the races enough. All of us caucused about "which track", "driving time", etc. Going to an entertainment venue should not be filled with tension or anxiety. But it was. We chose Grandview, a mid week TOTH show with both the sprints and mods. It was the shortest of all drives, but the potential of two classes of cars at an exciting track. It was not to be. The show crawled for no good reason. They ran the sprint feature first and we HAD to get on the road, and missed the mod feature. It was a double whammy. My own disappointent about a late show and missing a feature, but also our friend was less than impressed. He was polite and said all the right things, but he has never returned to see ANY race. I think I have been back to Grandview once since then. It ain't worth it. We should have taken the guy to a show at Lincoln like the Kasey Kane show in Sept.
