Hamlin, PA-- VETSTOCK Firecracker 100 Headlines Seven Division Show Saturday Night, July 7th at Hamlin Speedway
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
The premier racing facility in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, the Hamlin Speedway, swung back into action last Saturday night with an event that acted as a prelude to the huge event coming to the speedway this Saturday. July 7th will find all seven divisions at the speedway in exciting action but the headline attraction for the evening will be the running of the annual Hamlin VetStock Firecracker 100. The century long grind will offer up a $1,500.00 to win payday for the event based upon a 35-car entry list. The feature event will start thirty talented race drivers who will have to be on the top of their racing game just to make it into the show. “The Captain” Cody Kline is the defending champion of the event. Kline led every lap of the event last year to pocket a good hunk of money but has been missing in action at the speedway this season.
The racing at Hamlin in 2018 has been spectacular with a solid weekly roster continuing to produce a star studded field of racing heroes, creating the excitement and the buzz of what small car division racing is all about. Hamlin Speedway is a transitioning track with drivers transitioning in and out as they make their way into other divisions of the sport that will take them away from where they have made their initial mark in racing. To replace them, new stars have emerged each year at Hamlin from the quarter midget and go kart ranks to take on the speedway regulars on the multi-grooved and highly competitive raceway. The Firecracker 100 has become the “got to be there” race in all of Slingshot racing events.

The tickets are $10.00 each. For more information: Contact Allesson Rode through email at: firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at: 570-460-5977.
The initial event was started in 2007 with the first winner Billy Van Inwegen Sr hoisting $2,300.00 out of the facility. Shannon Smith was triumphant in 2008 and to date the only female who has captured the win. Former track regular Steve Intravaia invaded the speedway in 2009 from North Carolina to walk away with a win. Billy Clark won in 2010 and “The Rockaway Rocket” Danny Buccafusca was the winner in 2011. Ben Whitaker was triumphant in 2012 and “The Midge” Chris Kurtz won in 2013. Many time track champion “The Oxford Express” Dale Kober raced from 26th starting spot to win in 2014. The 2015 winner, “Chargin” Charlie Lawrence, became the first New Yorker to win the big prize and Lawrence recently returned to the speedway to cast his hat into the ring. Fellow New Yorker Justin Mills was at the tho top of his games with a win in 2016 and Cody Kline was the man of the moment in 2017 with his only win at the speedway coming at the event.
Through seven events in 2018 there have been been seven winners. “The Oley Jet” Brett Bieber, “The Sandman” Troy Langendoerfer, Austin Silfee, Scott Neary, Tyler Banks, “The Closer” Mike Fogler and “The Ambassador” Wes Hearn have all captured an event and Hearn has also captured four Super Slinger features making him a favorite heading into Saturday Night’s big show.
