I think the lack of visibility is really hurting the sport and has for years. When every shop had a race car it reminded people that there is a racetrack in the area. Cars on open trailers are also a great promotional tool for the local speedway. Now we put them in boxes when we transport them. Today, with the exception of at the track, a race car is visible to the public very rarely. How are new people going to be attracted to the sport when they don't see local cars? Most will think that the only racing is the NASCAR or Indy Car stuff they see when surfing the channels.
....and I still always look when I pass a place that had a race car so many years ago.
