Super Dirt Week
Went as crew/spotter, but feels like everyone is a fan/crew there, because everyone has pit admission.
Actually, as bad as the weather was most days, the track is amazing, it changes and brings different racing every few laps. Every kind of racing exists at different times
The support division racing was EXCELLENT with last corner passes for the wins in both divisions after very exciting features.
Small Block 150. Track was tricky. It takes rubber, it goes away than comes back (caused by tire changes.) Three grooves, than Stewies groove. Exciting, especially mixing in lapped traffic, because as the race goes on, the lapped cars are as fast as the leaders, making it for difficult lapping, but exciting as hell.
Big Block 200. Pretty close to small block, but alot more hectic and longer because of pitting. Most teams pit two to three times trying to adjust to changing conditions. The leader stayed the same til lap 198, everything and everyone else changed constantly. Attrition rate is minimal considering the distance (11 cars finished 2016, 34? finished yesterday). Not going to give a race recap, but it was VERY GOOD.
Lighting, when needed is excellent. Announcing led by Shane Andrews is always great. Track food, ok, but it's a constant BBQ and party brought by the thousands there, so who needs it.
SDW is a long and drawn out marathon week (believe me I was there since Monday). The partying and racing is always awesome. If you don't like the partying, than only go on Sunday, because it is non stop.
Kidding aside, I liked almost everything. The show gets an "A". The management gets an "A+" led by Mike Perrotte, for being able to prep and make schedules between rain drops.
Now time for a nap.
