First of all, thanks for taking a minute to read this.  The fact that you’re reading this means that you are a “Vault Visitor” and I couldn’t be any prouder than I am of the guys that visit this site, and our main site….You folks make up our little community here, and what a great group it is.

I’m always asked how is it that our message board has such a good vibe.... Folks ask, "How is it that you guys are able to discuss things, cover a variety of racing related topics from many different decades, share opinions, without the usual riff raff usually found elsewhere?"  Sometimes I wonder how we ended up with such a great group of guys, that all bring something different to the table… something of value…, whether it be memories of long nights in the garage, or your time as a crew member or driver...   Maybe you never turned a wheel, or a wrench in your life, but its those memories of being a kid sitting in a stand next to pops, and wondering what car # you would have, or what color your car would be when you were old enough to race...  I don't know why, but I feel like I understand...  We all do...

You all bring something that makes it work, and I really enjoy my role in keeping the wheels turning from the inside here at 3Wide Headquarters…  It doesn’t take a ton of $’s to put on "the show" here, but like most things of value, it does take a  time commitment, whether it be prepping and posting images that our talented group of photographers and individual collectors make available for us here, or time adding threads and/or approving posts on The Message Vault.  (Thanks also go out to our volunteer moderating team that keeps things rolling straight ahead when I dose off behind the wheel!)
As you know, we do our best to bring 3 Wide’s Picture Vault, and 3 Wide’s Message Vault to you 365 days, 24/7 (with few exceptions!), and we do it without asking you to buy T-shirts or key chains… or coffee mugs every step of the way…  We never had and never will try to do the membership thing…..  In fact, we go out of our way to make this place just like how it was when you were under 12 going to the races… Free admission!  (Although if your dad was like my dad, “under 12” was never really a finite thing….  I think some of us were probably already shaving when pops was still trying to pull the, “he looks old for eleven” routine at the admission gate.)

So…. what I’m getting at is that I really don’t like to ask for donations/site support …  I feel that you taking the time to stop by our site… weekly… daily… sometimes multiple times a day… is your contribution to what we do around here.  Some prefer to just look at what’s posted/what folks are talking about…  Some like to add comments and pictures….  Believe me, this place wouldn’t work if it wasn’t for ALL OF YOU who are reading this right now.

The exception that I make about asking for you to support our site, or in asking for donations, is each year, I ask that all of us support The Matheny Christmas Party, and I hope those of you reading this understand why…...

You guys know the history… You know the connection between the local racing community and the very special school located up in Peapack…  The school/care facility that Sammy Beavers visited as a child, and had such a powerful experience that he was able to move others to action to help support the school.  Ace Lane Jr, Mike Grbac, Ken Kulhman are some of the names I’ve heard that got things going in those early years.  I am grateful for what they did.

For many years now, good friend of The Vault Kevin Eyres and his family, along with a dedicated group of volunteers do most of the heavy lifting to make sure that the connection between the local racing community and this very important school remains in place….  It all comes together each year in a Christmas Party that is all about given some moments of joy, to those who need it the most.

So, I ask all of you reading this… if visiting our site provides you with a few hours each week of enjoyment/entertainment, I ask that you will join me in supporting this year's Matheny Christmas Party, to be held on Saturday December 22nd, by helping out in any way that you can...  $5, $10, $20..... (Maybe an amount that represents your all-time favorite driver's car #!.)  Maybe a gift card to Walmart , Best Buy, Target or possibly a Visa gift card, all to be used to purchase gifts that match those requested on "Santa's List" (which Kevin will be getting from the school in a few weeks)...

Please do not get hung up on the amount.  When I say that any support you provide is helpful, I really mean it.  If everyone reading this offered $5, that’s a tremendous! …. So again, it’s not as much about the amount, as much as it is that I really hope that all of you, who enjoy their visits to this site, will follow through with a donation for this year’s party by one of the following methods:

Checks or gift cards can be sent to:

RJC Charities
70 Albert Drive
Parlin, NJ, 08859
Attn:  Bob Caramella
Please Note:  Matheny School Party in the memo line
(RJC will return a tax exempt voucher to you if requested - (Please provide a mailing address where to send the voucher.)

Donations via Paypal can be made through a link on the RJC Charities Website:    (As mentioned above, RJC will return a tax exempt voucher to you if requested - (Please provide a mailing address where to send the voucher.)

If you'd like, please email me (3Wide@optonline . net ) after you've reached out to RJC Charities, or to Kevin, and I will let them know to be on the look-out for "a something" from you.   They will follow up with an email to you so that you know that your support was received, and appreciated!

For those who are "local," please consider joining us at this year's event (Saturday Dec 22nd.)  To do this, arrive before 12:30pm (sign in at the main entrance) and enjoy a light lunch provided by the school prior to "Santa's Arrival."  (For directions visit: .)

Sincerely guys… whatever you can do to help this year's effort will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for visiting this site (Message Vault), and our main site (Picture Vault), and thank you in advance for supporting this year’s Matheny Christmas Party.
