If I read it right, there's 14 big block events on the 5/8ths. I'm betting that there are not many folks on this board that even tried to attend 1/2 of that # of big block shows at Bridgeport in 2018. I'm probably on thin ice when it comes to this subject (I only attended 2 big block shows on the 5/8ths in 2018 myself), but I did want to say that for anyone that likes big block racing on a big track, that's 14 nights that they can mark on their calendar for 2019.
There are a lot of folks that have a preference when it comes to big blocks... or small blocks... or a preference about the 5/8th's or the 1/3rd... or even whether to run sail panels or no sail panels, but I'd like to know that those who have an opinion are "current" spectators, or "current" crew/participant... and maybe even a mention of whether they plan on attending Bridgeport in 2019, and very important, how often they plan on attending. What I'm getting at, is in my travels I have a lot of folks tell me what tracks need to do and not do, but the whole time they are telling me that I'm kinda thinking, "Would that cause them to attend a higher # of races than they currently attend, or are they just kinda justifying why they don't go anymore?"
Not trying to go negative, but track operators are trying to gauge what to do based with their shows... their facilities... on a lot of factors, and I guess I just want them to know that if somebody takes the time to offer an opinion, that they know where that opinion is coming from, (whether spectator, driver, crew... media...) and whether that person is still a "prospect", meaning that if the track offers the right product/show, then they will be rewarded with that person's attendance/participation.
Documented many times over and over on the board here, I attend races as a fan in the specator stands, I like Bridgeport. I like Big Blocks/I like Small Blocks. I like the 5/8th's track, but as a fan, I like the 1/3rd more. I only got there twice in 2018 for a 5/8th's show, but I did make sure I was there for both of the modified shows they ran on the 1/3rd track early in the year. I was disappointed that more were not on the schedule in 2018 because I would have attended more. With all that being said, I am at best an ocassional fan, and know that there are others out there who attend more often/would attend more often, whose opinions should be listened to more than mine, especially if they are likely to attend/participate more often.
For me, it's not big block/small block... or sail panel/no sail panel. I found the 1/3rd mile track more to my liking as a spectator, and I will try to attend all of the modified events (4) that will be held on the 1/3rd mile track as mentioned in the press release in May/June. I'd probably consider attending more, if more modified events were scheduled on the small track. I will also try to attend 1 or 2 big track shows.
