From personal experience the worst thing you can do is tell everyone what night will be your first night in a race car.   Its a good night if you take the green and the checker no matter how many laps down you are.  You dont need the extra pressure of all your friends watching you run laps 5 seconds slower than the leaders or pulling off on the parade lap because you forgot to tighten something.  And you most certainly forgot to tighten something.   I would also suggest that whatever night you think youre ready just wait one more week and really be ready.
