Thanks Bob. If you have any others from EWS that you notice are not already in The Vault that you would like added, email them over and I'll scale them down and will embed your info and your father's information on each before putting them in The Vault.
I know you understand the whole embedding thing, but most folks don't understand why I embed every photo that goes on the main site, and only put photos on the main site that are provided to me by the photographer, or by the original collector (owner of the original image.)
We try very hard to never post a photo that is from a RECENTLY MADE COPY OR A JPEG LIFTED FROM SOMEWHERE. That's why I also ask folks here on The Message Vault to only post original images here if they/family member were the photographer, or that they hold the original), and also request that they embed.
Take a look at the Wild Wild West out there known as the internet.... Check out how many photos are not credited. Or how many folks crop the photo down to where there is absolutely no background which is a sure sign that they cropped out the photographer/provider/site information that was on the original as posted elsewhere.
It takes much longer to embed every single photo, with the unique info, rather than just pointing to a file folder containing a bunch of images and blasting them on a Fecebook page or elsewhere, but I've never been worried about doing things differently than others, especially when I know that it is the right thing to do.
Guys sometimes get mad at me for all of the embedding... and all the little "stealth" 3W's or 3Wide's... or photographer's names that are kinda hidden in the background.... They say it wrecks the photo. The guys that copy photos and try to sell them at Mall Shows especially hate it because they can't print off images from our site and sell them like they can elsewhere where folks don't take the time to scale down images and embed.
But you know who doesn't get mad? The photographers and original collectors who appreciate that we do what we can here to display images, while keeping the "focus" on the photographer and provider, and including that information within every image. I've been told by many of them that they appreciate that we took the lead in embedding images, and they wish others had the same standard... Unfortunatley, they don't.
We can't keep folks from lifting photos and displaying elsewhere, but we can do our best to make it difficult by scaling the images down to low resolution, and then make sure they are embedded so if they end up elsewhere, there's a good chance that the photographer and original collector's name is still linked to the image.
