This is my model of Dave Pace's first stock car that was raced at Flemington about 1958. It was a 1937 Ford flatback and was sponsored by and stored at the B&S Body Shop located at 509 Washington Street, Hackettstown, and operated by Bob Burke and Squire Bergen. According to Dave, Jimmy Edwards of Port Murray, NJ helped build the car and Jimmy's 4 year old son chose the number but nobody now knows why the number was chosen. Bob Burke painted the car. Dave wanted it orange and black, the colors of HackettstownHigh School which he attended. Dave said he was disappointed to discover that Bob had chosen pink and black. Dave told me that the trunk image meant "mess with the bull and you get the horns". Lastly, Dave was still too young to drive at Flemington so Harry Wagner of Port Murray drove it. A long story but I enjoyed getting it from Dave so I thought I would share it.
