I know I'm a lightweight anymore, but that's way past my bedtime.
I look at it this way as a fan in the spectator stands... Tracks have my attention for 3 hours. Let me know as a fan when I should arrive to see the best 3 hours of fan entertainment and I'll give it a try. If the action is really that good, that compelling... that exciting... during the 3 hour period, I'll manage to find a 5 minute window to run down during a yellow to grab a burger and a soda and bring it back up to my seat to eat while watching the show... Just tell me what time to get there to enjoy the best 3 hours that you have to offer. If it's a solid 3 hour show, and I got to see the completed feature for the headlining division, I'll be back regardless of how many divisions, or how many other features there were still to run... (Hate to be held hostage, yet some tracks still haven't figured that out, insisting on running the modified feature last or next to last.)
I don't get out there as much as I like because of the ride (like I said.... I'm a lightweight these days), but Grandview's regular Saturday night program seemed to always deliver on this the times that I was there. Would start right at 7:30 and bang the show out... throw in a 20 minute intermission/track prep, and the modified feature was usually done before 10 and the sportsman not too long after that.
Wall Stadium gets all the prelim's out of the way before 7pm, and then start their features (usually 5 different classes) sometime around 7:15 or so. On most nights, I've see the headlining division feature, and if I choose, can be headed to the car within 2.5 - 3 hours, with maybe part of a feature still wrapping up. When that happens, I always feel like I got good value and am likely to return the following week.
