I like long shows if they are good shows. Thompson World Series is my favorite long show. I know ahead of time it’s going to be a long show. A regular Saturday night show is not supposed to be long. Anything over four hours is long to me. There is no reason, other than a few things out of the promoters control, that should make a show over four hours. Too many divisions, too many meaningless heats are the main cause nowadays.
I was at Middletown Saturday. They started late because of track conditions. They had a good problem of too many cars creating too many heats. 60 crates with six heats, long heats. Cut it to 3 heats, run a few more laps and qualify 8 from each and one Consi. Be willing to change the schedule in favor of the paying fans.
