As posted back two weeks ago, Stan was injured in a Wingless Sprint Car crash at New Egypt on Saturday June 15th in a crash that occurred during the feature when Stan's #27, and the car driven by Jermaine Godshall made contact on the frontstretch, resulting in both cars flipping.
Stan's nephew, racer Ryan Godown was quoted in the June 17th edition of AARN, just a few days after the accident when asked about his uncle's condition said, "He's banged up a little, he's pretty sore, but he's on the road to recovery."
I received an update earlier today, and was told that while he has some healing up to do, Stan is home, and getting a little better day by day. I was also told that Stan never lost conciousness in the accident, and remembers shutting the car off when it came to a stop.
It was at New Egypt and saw the accident, and it was a tough one guys. I'm very encouraged to hear that Stan is healing up, and like most race drivers, I'm sure he's trying to hurry the healing process along.
We live in a world of social media and digital technology, but I think it'd be pretty cool if all of us old school guys take a minute over the next day or two to send a note to Stan - the old fashioned way... via the good old U.S. Mail - letting him know that we're thinking of him, and that there would be a lot fewer pages in The Vault if it wasn't for, as Bill Singer would announce, "Stan... The Man Ploski!"
Cards/letters will reach Stan at:
103 Linvale Road
Ringoes, NJ 08551
I hope you'll take a minute to address a note/card to Stan.
Thank you 3 Wide Family, and let's all send Stan our well wishes!
