Hey Roger..We found that most of the problem was the tubes being pinched because of the low and wide tire and a tube that was more donut shaped like you said for the drag tires. Bad combination but not any choices.. Wheels with the tubesless snap up bead were not invented yet but by 1976 at Syracuse JB had some made by Ray Cook's Wheels..After that we used them untill Beadlocs came into use...Tom Hager used what he called gorilla snot glue on his beads and seemed to work ok untill you needed to remove the worn out tire..You needed Tom to get it apart with a couple sledge hammers...Bead locks are a great invention..Do you remember Naz recaps? we ran 0 to 4lbs air pressure in LR to make them work with their 6 ply sidewalls and to keep them mounted we ran a nascar liner inside with 30lbs air...Worked great till the Feds I mean Officials took that option away..In 1975/76 we heard that Brenn was o-ringing the Mag Wheels to run tubeless..Was a good Idea but kinda pricey...I think too many rules have ruined Modified Racing..HtH
