....Didn't want to start the new year without wrapping up a few things for 2020.
First of all, big thanks to all of you reading this. Really... If you are reading this - Thank you. You stopping by here tells me that we still must be doing something enjoyable/entertaining, and as long as that is the case, we'll try to keep on doing it. With the increase in social media platforms, and the zillions of other choices folks have now when it comes to looking at racing stuff on line, we're glad to still average over 1000 - 1500 views within a 48 hour period of most posts, so not to shabby for a bunch of old racing focused guys that still think it's 1960 or 1970 somethin'! Please continue to tell your friends out there about us. Believe it or not there are some folks that have just recently found a way to get on line and don't realize that we've been out here doing what we do for all these years.
I'd also like to thank those of you who take the time to post images, and/or comments to keep the board moviing along. We've got tons of folks who love to view what everybody is up to, but who prefer not to post... and I get it. We need you guys for sure, but it's also great to have so many folks who post images/comments on a variety of subjects so that it always makes a trip here to the Message Vault worth while/enjoyable. We've got fans... former drivers... former crew guys... photographers.... former track staff.... press... artists/letterer's.... As Jim Donnelly of Hemmings News said a few year's back when describing our site, "It's a virtual trip back to your favorite racetrack!"
Thank you also to the racing photographers/their families, and also the collectors of original images. The site works because it is a combination of images and comments.... If those images were never created... or never saved.... or never shared with us here, it'd be pretty boring. Thank you also for taking the extra time to always recognize and respect the original photographers and original collectors (current day holders of the images) by always attempting to include photographer/provider information, and by only posting images that you hold an original of. Those who know me know that I don't have a lot of respect for sites that post everything from anywhere - without any mention or concern of who the photographer/collector was. Enjoying the history of the sport is great, and its even greater when we take time to recognize everyone that made the show what it was, and that always should include photographers/collectors.
More thanks from this year need to go out to Jay Dugan of Radical Designs. Jay is a very busy young family man... a successful entreprenour, a tremendously talented artist... and fortunately for everyone reading this, is also extremely knowledgable regarding websites. For some reason, he has a soft spot for guys like us who are trying to keep the past from slipping away... and we should all be grateful for that! We had some huge hurdles this year, that at certain points, looked insurmountable because of the changes in technology, and not helped out much by a computer crash of one of my main workstations in October... I couldn't even begin to explain it, but Jay found a way to migrate everything from a Windows 7 machine over to a Windows 10 machine, and then got it all to communicate (upload/download) with Go Daddy's servers... even though we're still rocking with Frontpage 2003!
I didn't want this post to be so long that folks would tune out before finishing, so I'll button things up here.
Thank you again to all of you who had a part in helping us bring "The Message Vault," and "3 Wide's Picture Vault" to you in 2020.
Happy New Year!
