Joe- I'm pretty sure I've mention all this before but, my cousin Buck Kelly worked at Raceway Speed for several years back in the early 70s. Living in Jobstown at the time, I made frequent trips to RSC in Bordentown to see my cousin, and any driver that may be stopping in. I also had the opportunity to occasionally make parts deliveries for them. My favorite trip was delivering tires to the Ferriauolos in Whippany, NJ and having a short converstion with Mr. (Anthony Sr.) Ferriauluo.
The owners, Cliff Dywer and John Skistimas were both gereat to be around. I recall that John, and possibly Cliff, both previously worked at the California Speed Shop in New Brunswick, NJ before opening up RSC in Bordentown with former 3rd partner Joe Turkel.
My favorite memory of RSC was John always getting Jules and/or Geza Sestak all fired up over "an incident" that had happened at Flemington or Windsor. John would always say things like, "The officials screwed you in that race", or " (driver so and so) wrecked you on purpose. Even if the Sestak #37 had a quiet night the races, John would always have the Sestaks leaving RSC with smoke pouring out of their eyes. But the best thing was if John saw the Sestaks coming into the speed shop, he'd always say, "Get ready boys, here comes Gonzo and Geeza Senstack!."
For me, a stop at Raceway Speed was truly the next best thing to going to the races! Scott Ely
