Reaction time is a bit of factor, but when a 3,300 pound object is in motion, reaction time barely matters, the force behind it won't allow it to stop. Those guys are over the edge 95% of the time and still racing at about 50% capacity. You have to remember everyone is at 190 mph, so reaction time is about equal amonst all of them. If one guy is 190 and another is 160, reaction times are way different. Hard to explain.
