That was great to see the articles on Lakewood (Hope Chapel Racetrack) My father,Al "Peanut" Wardell raced there in 1950 thru 1952. He and Frankie Holzhauer were racing at Lakewood and shared a ride at Wall Stadium for Russ Tilton. Frankie got tired of sharing one car so he bought a car from Dave Hulse along with Russ and they went to Langhorne in 1951 where Frankie was burned very bad. That was the end of Russ Tilton owning race cars. Frankie still went to Wall Stadium for years after he recovered and he painted my first modified in 1970. As far as Manahawkin, there was a dirt track there and a new paved track was build down the road. My father raced there in 1952 and 1953. The track was part of where the shopping mall was later built on route 72.
