Midget Auto Racing in the Winter? In the Bronx??
Ringoes, NJ – Midget racing in the middle of Winter…in “The Bronx” NY? Yep! Back during just one Winter Season, the American Racing Drivers Club – ARDC, ran from November 1946 through April 1947 in the Kingsbridge Amory and Art Cross came away with the distinction of taking that one and only indoor season ARDC midget championship!
Thanks to busy Auto Racing Research Associates historian Thomas Schmeh, fans of old-time midget racing can take a stroll back in time to this little capsule of time in midget racing. Schmeh submitted the file just recently and he was assisted by a number of other historians in capturing everything they could about that little blip in time in indoor midget auto racing in the Northeast.
This new midget auto racing file joins the recently added driver file on Roger Laureno as the newest additions to the ever-growing national racing Laurena reference website.
