There was plenty of excitement on any given Saturday night at Flemington Fair Speedway back in the 70's, and during those days, with the outside wooden fence, part of that excitement usually included some wild rides between turns one & two, which led to the often well deserved nickname of  "Flippington."

From the Lens of Nelson Ivins - Fred Orchard #406:

...I remember this one well....

Freddy Orchard in the #406 was in a battle for the lead with Billy Carver Jr during the rookie feature, and as they came into the first turn, contact was made, with Orchard going up and over, and Carver spinning to the inside. (If you look to the bottom right of a few of the images, you can just see the backend of Carver's #1Jr sedan.)

One of the reasons I remember this one so well is not only because they were battling or the lead, but also because I was seated in the stands, taking a picture of my own with the trusty Kodak 110 Instamatic...  (That's me - 2nd picture down, left side bottom, about 4 rows up.  I'm also directly behind the flipping #406 Valiant in the 3rd picture from the top, but totally hidden by the car.)

Here's what it looked like from the otherside of the fence:

Fred Orchard would race again and would go on to become a modified feature winner later in his career.
