Nobody is happier to see race folks here on the board helping out other race folks than me, and that's definitely what was going on here. It's not about "not trusting." - It's about us all covering ourselves so that folks know when something is posted here, they can count on it. There have been times where great folks... (yes, even folks who have been on here a long time...) have posted something, only to then find out that it wasn't correct, or needed to be clarified. That's when I start getting texts or emails, (sometimes from the person who had made the original post) asking me to please remove the post as they had later learned that the info was incorrect/inaccurate. That's not the case here, but when it comes to cancellations, rescheduling, illness, injuries, deaths, etc., we like it when a website/a source is provided. It's kind of funny.... For probably close to 15 years here, we've insisted that we recognize photographers and providers by embedding information in each image posted so that they get the recognition that they deserve in the very important role they provided in capturing the history of the sport...... Folks tell us that we were wrong to do it... and that's not how the internet works anymore, so why bother.... Then, like in the case above, we also do our best to see to it that information posted here is correct, and is sourced in the hopes of keeping stuff accurate and also to avoid becoming a typical rumor mill that other boards thrive on.... Again, there's folks out there that tells us we're wrong to do that too... (The moderators here on the board know that our motto is, "We never have to be first, but we always have to be accurate.") There's lots of different ways to run a message board, and that's how we do it here. We don't want to discourage folks from posting info that can help others, but as we offered above, a source is always welcome so that folks know where the information is originating, and so they can check it out further if they want more info/other
