Many years ago before I started the Howie Cronce 9c car, I was going to make a Kenny Brenn 24 Grant King copy. I purchased an older Olsen chassis and proceeded to cut it up to make it as close to a King car as I could. I ran into Kenny at a Flemington Speedway Historical society meeting one night and told him what I was doing. He said I would love to be part of that and if there was anything he could help me with, just ask. Well one thing lead to another and the Burnett chassis became available so I put the 24 frame aside and started the 9c with Jay Aten and the rest is history. It hurt me to tell Kenny that I was changing direction, but he understood. We got talking about Syracuse and he told me this story about a car that he designed and built. It was the year after the Batmobile which makes the year 1981. He said that they built a super wide frame within the rules and the body was just as wide. He told me that Dirt got wind of it and told them not to bring it to the track and banned it. Kenny said that they took the car apart and cut up the frame, but the body is in a barn up in Warren NJ. I said, go get it, and we'll put it on my Olsen frame. It'll be the car that never was. A few weeks later he told me that he went to the farm to try and get the body ( which was still in the barn) and the owner said no. Kenny said the guy knew what he had and thought it might be worth something. Well a few years later we lost Kenny and I have no idea where this barn is. I'm hoping to go to the Kenn Brenn Sr. 95th birthday party next month and talk to Ken Sr. and Jimmy Brenn to see if they know where it is. If any of you Ken Brenn ex pit crew guys know anything, give me a shout. Curious to know what it would have looked like.
