The "penalty" that Google and others slap sites like us who decide to drop the Secured Socket Layer (SSL) certificate after years of having it, is until they (Google) re-index their search engines, it will give the user a scary warning when bringing up our site because it thinks something is wrong because the site used to have an SSL and now it's not there. 19 years X @$220 = $4180.... If you get the security warning, there is usually a prompt that will allow you to continue to the site, but again, they try to scare the hell out of you for doing it. Once you continue to the site, you shouldn't get the "warning" again on future visits unless you are using a different search engine/brower that hasn't updated/reindexed yet.
