Southern 500 @ Darlington. Just a fan in the stands.
The place is spotless. Parking was very good considering how many people they have to get in on country back roads. We could see the whole track from our section. I strongly urge anyone who hasnt been to see a race at Darlington.
A major dislike that cannot be altered is the stands are all very high so there are ALOT of steps between the ground level and your seats. We are in our 50s and in relatively good health and the walk to our seats kicked our a$$. Not a good setup considering how old many fans are these days but it would be impractical to fix this problem. They really need more video boards. They have some but they're really small and you could barely see them from the turn 1 stands. Same goes for the solitary scoring pylon. I couldn't see the lap counter without binoculars. They really need another one of those in the turn 1 side of the track. My wife already has said that may be the last time we go to Darlington simply because the walk up to the seats is so brutal.
But I'd say go if you've never been.
As a side note, we paid $2.94 per gallon to gas up in SC in the way down.
