You look at Bowman's hit. Pretty hard backwards in the wall. The car absorbed all the impact and was not damaged too bad. Problem is the driver is so secure in that vehicle he becomes part of the vehicle. He hit the back of his head on the seat back and was knocked silly. 

Hit a steel hammer on an anvil and feel where the energy goes. Hit a steel hammer with a wood handle on an anvil and see where the energy goes. Something needs to absorb energy between the body and the wall. This car does not do that.
