The 2022 season finale at New Egypt Speedway will take place this Saturday with the annual “Legends of the Fall” curtain closer. The lucrative Modified event will be 75 laps paying a cool $7500 to win, $1000 for tenth and $400 to start. This race will feature the Big & Small Block Mods sporting regular DIRT legal bodies with windows (No Sail Panels) for the first time this year. A list of rules can be found on the Information sheet attached at the bottom of this article. The race format will also hold some surprises compared to the normal Saturday night show, which is building up the anticipated excitement. Qualifying lineups will be set thru timed warm-ups of each heat race group, which is determined by a random draw at the pre-race driver’s meeting. The fastest timer will draw an inversion pill to set the line-ups for the qualifying heats. In addition all Modified events on this evening will have double file restarts until the checkered flag, including the 75 lap feature event, adding to the drama. In addition, if there are 40 cars in attendance, a special 15 lap event will be added for ALL Non-Qualifiers after the B Mains have been finished. Billed as the “High Roller 15”, the winner will be asked to “gamble” on himself, being offered a choice of $400, or the provisional 25th starting spot in the Legends of the Fall feature. The provisional spot will offer no start pay in feature ($400 less than posted purse), but if the driver thinks he can finish in the top ten he would significantly increase his payout. This will not only give the fans an extra race, maybe to see their favorite hotshoe race their way into the big 75 lapper, but will also give one driver an extra chance to get into the field and/or take home some money after not qualifying. Many Legendary Modified stars are already confirmed to be in action including 2022 track champion Brandon Grosso, 4 time NES champion Ryan Godown, 2020 champ Danny Bouc, ‘21 champ Mike Gular, 2-time track champ Rick Laubach, last year’s All-star Cup winner Jeff Strunk, season finale winner Wade Hendrickson along with other former winners & future legends Louden Reimert, Jim Housworth, Dominick Buffalino, Ryan Krachun, John McClelland, Cale Ross, Kevin Vaclavicek, Justin Grosso, Jack Butler, Anthony Tramontana, Paul Mancini & DJ Hunt just to name a few. The Crate 602 Sportsman will also be competing in a 25 lap $1000 to win/$100 to take the green event, which is also the 7th & final double point event for the special High Gear Towing Series. 2022 Crate champ Joe Toth will look to lock up the High Gear Towing Series points to sweep both NES Crate championships for the year. The Wash Wagon 4-cylinders will also be in competition. All this legendary action happens at New Egypt Speedway this Saturday, 10/22/22. Pit Gates will open at 3pm, while spectator gates will swing open at 4pm. Cars will take to the track for hot laps at 5pm with racing getting underway at 6pm.
