Auto Racing Research Associates – ARRA, are proud to announce that a months long research project by ARRA President Fred Voorhees on the Malta, NY racing facility, the Albany-Saratoga Speedway, has been completed as best it can be and is now featured on the Albany-Saratoga Speedway page on the highly popular ARRA website.

“I have been a fan of Albany-Saratoga ever since I first attended an event there a handful of years ago.” stated Fred from his ARRA office in Ringoes,NJ today.  “We had previously had the weekly results from A/S from 1999 forward and at that, just the feature winners.  I decided that as long as I was going back to the beginning of the speedway (1965) to attempt to get all feature winners of all divisions that had run there, I might as well get the top three finishers.”

In essence, the project would be starting from ground zero since even ARRA’s records for A/S from 1999 was only winners.  “It was a major undertaking.  And it kept me busy for so long, but it was worth it.   With the amount of racing that has taken place there since 1965, of course – there are some instances where the information just wasn’t available…..” reported Fred “…..and I invite anyone who might have any little tidbits of information that might not be included in the file to contact ARRA to let us know they might have something to add.  I scoured the entire window of time from 1965 to the just closed up ’22 season in not one, but two racing newspapers and wound up trying to fill in any gaps with Newspapers.com which helped a little bit…and at this point, I think the available weekly winners history of Albany Saratoga Speedway has been captured to the best possible level.”

“Capturing this kind of history on a track is the ‘Brass Ring” that us historians crave and I am very happy to complete this effort and move on to my next project, which will be the same effort, but this time…for the Accord Speedway, another New York racing facility that my wife Karen and I just visited for the first time in 2022.  I got the idea to do the same work for Accord when that tracks big fan Frank Bush asked me if I could help him out with providing him some spare racing newspapers from the papers donated to ARRA from devoted fans who no longer wanted them.  I couldn’t help Frank much as I didn’t have any significant number of the papers that he was in need of at the time, so I told him that I would make Accord the next project that I would tackle.  In fact, Frank and I have broken up the detail between us to make it less monstrous as Accord goes back a few more years than Albany Saratoga as Accord got its start in 1962.  So, I welcome the help from Frank and look forward to what he contributes to our cause.”   Anyone interested in viewing the newly completed work on Albany Saratoga can view it by clicking on the track pages link and then clicking the Weekly Winners tab here:  https://sites.google.com/view/tracks-series-organizations/albany-saratoga-speedway
