ARRA Looking Forward with the Future in Mind

Ringoes,NJ – ARRA…Auto Racing Research Associates is comprised of upwards of almost 40 nationwide auto racing historians with a wide breadth of experience and knowledge of a multitude of different aspects of the sport.  However, one thing that has been noticeable for a long time has been the fact that the vast majority of their historians are older gentlemen, and while dedicated historians….they are getting up there in age and as time goes by, as nature would have it….those historians will no longer be active in the effort to document the sports vital statistics.  To that end, ARRA has decided to go on a search for young, interested prospects who would like to look into becoming an auto racing historian.

“We are not only looking for young blood to become a historian member of our ARRA group….” stated ARRA President Fred Voorhees.  “I would love to get some younger historians on board and hopefully, eventually, one of them would be able to take over the goings on and the regular updating and maintenance of our popular website.”  He went on “The website is actually very easy to operate and maintain.” Fred claims.  “I would certainly be willing to take an interested party under my wing and show them everything needed to maintain the website and keep it updated.  It has just become all to obvious that we need some younger historians among us to continue this research effort!  I simply care to much for what we have built and accomplished to take a chance that for some reason or other, I won’t be able to continue with the website and there be no one available to immediately pick up the ball and maintain the continuity.”

So…ARRA would like to announce that they are looking for a young and interested racing fan who would like to help out with keeping the history of the sport of auto racing within reach of all and contribute to a great cause.  ARRA would be able to supply them with a great starting off collection of auto racing papers that they could use for their racing research library.  Fred reveals that “I know that I could right off the bat supply a new historian with a solid and complete collection of racing papers reaching back at least thirty six or seven years.  And back even further than that, but the years will not be exactly complete.  But we are always getting donations of papers and their collections can always be built upon.”

The research is arduous, it is not all that exciting and the pay actually sucks…in fact, its non-existent.  “Yeah, it takes time.  Researching is time consuming,” Voorhees says…”not only that…but a potential historian has to realize that he or she needs the room to store those papers.  No one gets rich researching auto racing statistics!  For me and all of our historians, the “pay” comes from the knowledge that we are helping to preserve the history of our sport with accurate and dependable statistics.  Our website is used by a wide array of media to fact check stories and features and prepare for impending bodies of work.  We also supply our services to entities such as the Northeast Dirt Modified Hall of Fame and Museum in preparation for their annual driver induction ceremonies.  If this works out positively, I may consider taking on even more  young, interested parties.”

Interested candidates can send their responses to Fred Voorhees at fredjv1@embarqmail.com for concideration.
