2023 . . . . It was 60 years ago on June 7, 1963, that the Harmony Speedway opened under NASCAR sanction. Sammy Beavers won the 25-lap modified feature event that evening, Fred Fritsche won the 15-lap novice feature. And it was 50 years ago on September 7, 1973, that the final racing events were held at the track. Jay Beers won the 20-lap limited sportsman feature event that evening, Clarence Hill won the 15-lap late model feature. Amazing to me that it's been a half century since race cars circled the D-shaped dirt track in my hometown. Sincere thanks and appreciation to our 3Wides host Joe Macfarlan for his assistance and expertise in setting up this tribute section to Harmony Speedway.
