Went to the "New" New Egypt Speedway.  Overall, glad I went.

LIKES:  In my opinion, the racing was pretty good across the board.  For the most part, the events were run off with little time in between, a good thing considering the temperature dropping throughout the evening.  I felt the Grossos hit a home run with the new surface and changes in track design.  The fast way around seemed to be around the top with very little dust.  The modified feature was excellent, exciting finish.

DISLIKES:  First of all, it appeared to me that NES experienced "growing pains" under the new operators.  I'm sure they will iron out the bugs in the future.  It took quite awhile to pay the admission and get into the speedway.  It didn't help that the 1st turn admission gate of old was locked and not used.  I think NES would have been better served if they used a couple of shuttle drivers as a ticket seller and security person at the 1st turn gate.  That would have eased the problems at the main gate.  I know it was nice that kids bikes were being given away but, considering the temperature drop, it may have been a better idea to have postponed the giveaway to another night.  In summary, the intermission could have, and should have been shorter.  I appreciate the announcer when he offers good information regarding sponsors, drivers or race cars.  But I don't get it when there are no events being run and they have nothing to say.  Also, the announcer starts talking when a race is taking place.  Maybe its me, but I can't hear a word they say when the hot rods are tearing up the track!  I also didn't like, or think it was fair, that the Ron Osormbee #19 was allowed to compete with the street stocks.  Fron the rest of the street stock field, it was like bringing a knife to a gun fight. Actually, the 19 could have been an assault rifle when compared to its competition!

So for being so long winded, but I'll definitely go back to NES.  I feel that the Grossos are trying and will make NES a better speedway than what we have witnessed in the recent past.  Scott Ely
