I caught up on some FLO replays that I hadn't gotten around to watching earlier:

  • Larry Rice Classic USAC Wingless Sprints (Great)
  • High Limits Sprint Car Series from Lakeside Speedway (Great)
  • USAC Western State Midgets at Merced CA  (Great)
  • NARC Sprints at Tulare CA (night 1)  Will watch night 2 soon  (Great)

Also watched a lot of the INDY practice day, and listened to all the back stories leading up to this year's 500.  Disappointed that there's only 34 cars, but I just have to get used to it as I can't remember when there was a bump day where a bunch of folks went home.  Cars look really stable, so hopefully it'll be a safe month of May at Indy.  I'm looking forward to staying up to date everytime coverage is on Peacock.

I DVR'd/fast forwarded through xFinity and Cup.  We all know it, so it's preaching to the choir, but with no penalties for blocks that cause huge wrecks, and no penalties for running over guys causing even more wrecks, it is nothing more than a predictable mess week after week.  The last time xFinity ran, Hemorick caused a huge crash coming to the checkered.  This week, a ridiculously late block by him caused an even bigger wreck, but at least this time he ended up on his lid instead of a 2nd place finish a few weeks earlier, but expect more of the same until Nascar penalizes such awful mirror/spotter assist driving, or until teams run out of money, or sadly, until someone gets really hurt.

As for cup, yesterday's (Sunday) accident, and the huge impact between Ryan Preece and Kyle Larson, it too was caused by "NASCAR approved" legal, agressive pushing/driver's trying to make a spot where there wasn't one...  was one 180° spin away from what would have been a very serious injury or worse to Kyle Larson.  Had the driver's side of the #5 been facing traffic when he was hit, it would have been tragic, and maybe then Nascar would consider penalizing the blocking and pushing each other out of the way, but as I've droned on before, it's all they have now... "The Big One"... The Multiple Green White Checkered".... and the reaction of Mike Joy in the booth as if it was somehow a surprise as he somberly offers...  "What a shame..." ... "So and so had such a good run going...."  Almost like if that was the conclusion that nobody saw coming... Except EVERYBODY.

Will look to get out to a local show this weekend....
