Never bet against you guys.....  Here's a picture from possibly the same batch of negatives, and although the car Dick Simon is sitting in below is different than the car in the above photos, I think that is Dick's helmet with the #44 hanging on the right side mirror, written the same was as the "4" is written on the car in the photos above.
There are some other pictures in the batch where Janet Guthrie is in the above car, so my guess is that Dick was involved in her champ car efforts, at least specifically on this day at Trenton Speedway.
